Dolphins and seals can be seen all year round. There’s no better way to experience Albany than by boat. Albany is home to pristine beaches, turquoise waters and the most beautiful bays in Australia. Situated in Princess Royal Harbour, part of King George Sound, these waters are steeped in history. Imagine what it would have been like when the first explorers pulled into the harbour as early as 1627 or when the first ANZAC troops departed Albany for WWI in 1914. Cast yourself back in time to the days of the old whaling ships and see the Whaling Station in Frenchman Bay and the shipwreck of the Cheynes II, a 440 ton steam whale chaser. Our boat is the “Young Salty Dog”, a twin hull catamaran and an ex Sea Rescue vessel that is safe and stable. Holding up to 12 passengers, Captain Mark will give you a personalised tour of the harbour and King George Sound. We’ll navigate through the Ataturk Channel, past Point King Lighthouse and Point Possession. You’ll see the ANZAC Centre on Mount Clarence from the sea. Out in the King George Sound you’ll gaze in awe at the beautiful turquoise waters of Mistaken Island. We cruise past Brambles, Whalers Cove/Fisheries (a local nudist beach), Goode and Middleton Beach. We pass Camp Quaranup, built in 1875 as a quarantine station with a powder magazine built on Geake Island. Be reminded of whaling days gone by with a visit to an old shipwrecked Whale Chaser which broke its moorings and ran aground. King George Sound Safari run WHALE and scenic boat safaris daily around King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour in Albany, WA. We are the only boat tour operating all year round out of Albany Marina.
From around May to October, Humpback, Southern Right and occasionally rare Blue Whales can be seen in Albany’s waters where they frolic, mate and calve. Dolphins and seals can be seen all year round.
Our boat is the “Young Salty Dog”, a twin hull catamaran and an ex Sea Rescue vessel that is safe and stable. Holding up to 12 passengers, Captain Mark will give you a personalised tour of the harbour and King George Sound.
From November to April, we run Summer Sea Safaris, 3 x 2 Hour tours, departing 09:30, 12:30 and 15:30.
From May to October, we run Winter Whale Safaris, 2 x 3 Hour tours, departing 09:30 and 13:30.
We also offer 2, 3 or 4 hour custom safaris to tailor a cruise for whatever your heart desires. Whether this is a tour of Princess Royal Harbour, King George Sound or the two combined. Perfect for Corporate Functions, Family Fun Days or Christmas/End of Year parties.
Captain Mark is an Albany local and will educate and entertain you with his commentary and knowledge of the area.
Cancellation Policy
We understand plans can change, so here are our conditions and policies
1. We require a minimum of 3 paid tickets on the boat before we can commit to a tour. If there are less than 3 booked your order will be in PENDING mode until we fill more seats. Please call us on 0429 080 397 to confirm.
2. If the safari is cancelled for whatever reason (e.g. weather) you can move your booking to another safari or obtain a full refund. The choice is yours!
3. Cancellations can only be made up to 24 hours before your safari departs. If outside of 24 hours you can move your booking to another safari or obtain a full refund.
4. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
If the safari was not to your satisfaction or while the whales are in town you did not see a whale you are invited back as our guest free of charge for another safari.

Directions
At the bottom of York Street (main street in Albany) turn left into Princess Royal Drive, then turn right into Toll Place at the Entertainment Centre. The boat harbour is on your left.
Enjoy a tea or coffee and a bite to eat at Haz Beanz Cafe right next to where we depart.

KING GEORGE SOUND SAFARI
My friends and I (10 of us) recently hired Captain Mark for a King George Sound Safari 6 hour cruise, and if you are looking for a way to spend a special day out with friends, I would highly recommend contacting King George Safari.We were there to celebrate my "27th" birthday, and we enjoyed an awesome 6 hour cruise. Come lunch time, we dropped anchor just off Goode Beach in protected waters for a barbecue and a couple of cold drinks, before we set off on the next part of the tour.
Mark made it an interesting time out, and we were able to see up close the old whale chaser, Camp Quaranup, out into King George Sound, where we saw the oyster pots, some sea life, and it was amazing looking at Albany from the ocean.
I totally loved the day out, and am excitedly waiting for my chance to go on a whale tour with King George Sound next month (July).

What a great morning cruise we had! We had a great time exploring King George Sound and the beautiful surrounding areas of Albany. Captain Mark provided interesting facts along the way on the history of the region. He made everyone feel very welcome and was a great host. We will definitely be back. Fantastic day for a cruise with Captain Mark and his King George Sound Safari. Had the best time, fantastic photo ops, glassy water and amazing weather. Mark is larger than life, fun, entertaining and he's extremely knowledgeable about the local area. We shared the cruise with a lovely fun family which only added to the perfect day... Really can't rate King George Sound Safari and 'Captain' Mark any more highly.. His reputation proceeds him, every local business person we have spoken to and mentioned our cruise have just had nothing but praise for Mark which is just fantastic to hear. I can highly recommend Mark's Safari... 5 stars from me.. Cheers Mark for a fantastic cruise. G
