Description
One of the oldest and largest properties in WA is a family owned/operated business. The station has over 60km of rugged Indian Ocean coastline, over 30km of Murchison River floodplains and adjoins the Kalbarri National Park.
The homestead is situated on the tranquil banks of the Murchison river, surrounded by hundreds of large river gum trees. The plentiful supply of water, with permanent soaks and springs creates an abundance of wildlife. Large flocks of birds abound, kangaroos and emus are plentiful and feral goats are everywhere.
In season, Murchison House Station provides its very own spectacular display of wildflowers, so special it was featured on "The Great Outdoors"
Camping is available along the riverbank with an ablution block adjacent.
Bush camping is available at extra charge for self sufficient 4WD vehicles.
Murchison House Station is accessible on 4km of gravel road before you reach the station gates, it is suitable for all vehicles but please take caution after rain.

Awesome experience
Freedom, fresh air, awesome tourist experience. History, canoeing on the Murchison. Bush meal provided. Cheese plate, pizza, fish & cockles, damper, kangaroo ragout, bush cake. Drinks to order. Thanks to Randall and Leticia.Nice place to stop
Nice place to stop near Kalbarri. Great price point ($20/night) for those passing through, hot showers and flushing toilets, lovely gum trees by the river, what more could you want!I stayed on the homestead side and was neither impressed nor unimpressed by the campsite. Quite tightly packed (not much privacy or space, a few caravans had trouble getting parked up), but lovely spot right on the banks of the river. Very busy when I arrived, I would recommend calling and booking in advance.
I wouldn't rush back for a holiday by the homestead, but I would stop here again if I were passing through, and plan to cross over to explore the station by 4WD.
Drinking water available at taps, camp kitchen and fire pits.
Highly recommend
