Description
"The Rest" is a small cabin overlooking the Pink Lake, located on our property "Loch Hill"
Located on Barook Road about 15 minutes out of Esperance, the cottage was built in 2000. But it feels older than that. Crafted from recycled materials, it was a labour of love created while we lived on the property with our children. We have since moved out of town to work on farming properties in the area and have a larger farm at Dalyup where we now live alongside our herd of horses, and cattle.
"Loch Hill" is a beautiful property and has always been our intention to share it with others. Over the years we have hosted people from many lands: some of the structures and gardens on the property are the result of efforts reminiscent of the best collaborative works of the United Nations. Now we want to share it with people closer to home.
Guests can sit on the front deck and enjoy the view of the lake, or on the back deck where birds such as New Holland Honeyeaters sing to them from the bushland that the cottage snuggles into. A night in this cottage is like a tonic to the soul.
The self-contained cottage has two bedrooms, one double bed and two singles, a dining/living area and a kitchen. Access to Wi-Fi is not provided: this is a place to disconnect and absorb nature. 11 Mile Beach is the closest place to tip your toes in the sparkling ocean, and there are bush tracks on the property that can be easily accessed for an early morning or evening walk. A bath, spacious shower, evening drinks on the deck overlooking the lake: these are the things we have enjoyed and are excited about sharing. It is our slice of the heaven that is Esperance.
But be prepared. This is not a chain-branded place. It is a cottage on a bush block. The driveway in is gravel, the internet is decidedly dodgy, and sometimes the water supply hiccups. But we are on hand to ensure that the experience is unforgettable.
This is a place for people who do not want an urban holiday; people who want to create memories, enjoy bush walks with their children, or read in peace and quiet by themselves. Sitting in a chair, overlooking the lake, tea in hand. Plenty of time to think. And a base to explore from.
