Ruse Estate Retreat is located on a stunning 80-acre property that features it’s own vineyard. The property is simply idyllic and it’s the perfect place to stay when you want to get away for some quiet time but still be close enough to all of the attractions that make the south west is reknowned for. The property features everything from rolling parklands with a train carriage on a beautiful dam setting with a jetty, through to a beautiful ‘lake’ on the Chapman Brook. There is natural bushland, 16 acres of grapes and going for a stroll around the property is our favourite past time, and it will be yours as well when you stay with us. Featuring 3 solar passive modern chalets that have been positioned to maximise the picturesque views of our property and to ensure privacy is enjoyed by all guests. All feature fully functioning kitchens and have been furnished with an understated elegance that blends in beautifully with the surroundings. How did we come up with the name for Ruse Estate? I recently discovered that I'm a direct descendant of James Ruse and Elizabeth Perry. James Ruse was a first fleet convict and he was also the first freed convict to be allocated farming land and Australia's first farmer. His wife Elizabeth was the first emancipated female convict and was also a farmer. Considering James's links to the land, our family felt that it would be a great name for our vineyard and it’s a great story to share with our guests.
If you want to learn more about James, check out this link- http://www.visitsydneyaustralia.com.au/james-ruse.html He's quite renowned and even has a major road and school named after him in Sydney. Some of his farming equipment is also on display in the Powerhouse museum in Sydney.
We are looking forward to sharing our little piece of paradise with you.
