DOG POLICY (brief summary): We are dog friendly (subject to approval). Maximum one dog per chalet unless by prior arrangement (for 2 dogs). If we are not able to accommodate 2 dogs, it is because of other (potential) bookings as there is a maximum of five dogs in total, across all five chalets, at Petra. Dogs must be 1yo+, spayed/desexed, fully vaccinated, house-trained, well behaved, well socialised. The property is 30 acres, with ample areas for you to walk and play with your dog. Please note however, there is no outside enclosed fenced area and there will be other dogs on/off-leash (including our own). Petra Estate is also totally unfenced at the boundary roads of Sheoak & Lagoon Drives and there are wild kangaroos and wildlife (ducks, birds, etc) around. Guests are requested to bring their dog’s bedding. Dogs are not allowed on sofas or beds (extra charges will apply if any evidence of dogs on sofas or beds). Guests are requested to take their dogs with them when they go out.

Please Note your dog's AGE, BREED, SEX, STERILISATION & VACCINATION STATUS, socialisation/behaviour. Detailed descriptions will be more generously considered & expedited in terms of preference. Unfortunately, we are not able to have unsterilised dogs at Petra for a variety of reasons, our apologies. Please note if your dog has stayed at Petra previously.

Petra is a 30 acre property with lovely areas for you to walk with your dog, however please note that there is no outside enclosed area, and there are other dogs (like an off-leash park) plus wildlife (kangaroos, ducks, birds, etc). Guests are requested to bring their dog's bedding and dog towels, and keep them off the furniture and beds (additional cleaning charges will be passed on, if evidence of dogs on lounge/beds). Guests are requested to take their dogs with them when they go out. Please bring poo bags & dispose of in the outside green bin. (Maximum one dog per chalet unless by prior arrangement - if you have two dogs, this requires additional approval). All dogs need to be approved prior to stay. Please keep a close eye on your young dog’s toilet habits inside the chalet. We understand s/he may never wee inside at home, but s/he will obviously be able to smell that other dogs have been there. We do thoroughly clean our chalets of course, but a dog’s nose is of course much more acute than ours; particularly younger dogs, who are sometimes ‘triggered’ to ‘mark their territory’. Please bring wee mats/crate and roll up the chalet rugs/mats if there’s a risk. Unfortunately, we are not able to risk unsterilised dogs at Petra for a variety of reasons, our apologies. Also, before letting off-leash, please note your dogs' behaviour (especially younger dogs) regarding kangaroos/ducks, especially breeds/dogs that may be more likely to chase/round up (eg. cattle dog/kelpie/border collie/greyhound/whippet). Ideally, you should only let dogs off-leash if you have ‘good recall’ on them (the whole property is unfenced). Having said this, trained/well-behaved dogs are usually better with other dogs if they are off-leash (so the dogs can decide their own hierarchy). Please be mindful of bushy/reedy areas in warmer months (snakes are possible in the country, albeit we have never had any dogs/humans bitten at Petra (20+ yrs).

Loved it

My husband and I LOVE this place! Sadly there's a lot of Dog / Pet friendly accommodation out there where you just wouldn't stay. Petra is not the case! You would have no idea its Pet Friendly as the chalets are simply furnished, yet modern and very clean and comfortable. We just stayed in #4 which is new and has an amazing dining area which opens onto the beautiful estate. It's bathroom has the latest fittings + is spacious. It's perfect, honestly! You can't beat the manicured gardens, your views are picture perfect. We walked down to the shed, purchased some estate made goodies and enjoyed a coffee whilst we took in the views. Highly recommend to everyone. I'll do my best to tell everyone because everyone should enjoy the "Petra" experience. Thanks Melina and family. You've got an amazing property and business. We'll be back soon.

Brilliant

I have stayed at Petra Estate on more than six occasions over the years with Baci, my Beagle, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness; the amenities which are perfectly suited to a relaxed stay with a pet; close proximity to a number of wineries, galleries, eateries, beaches and Dunsborough; and of course the Petra Tasting Room. The produce has all been brilliant including the Olives, Lip Balm and Aged Balsamic Glaze. Service has been brilliant and we are always welcomed back, even with my dog. Looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful property

We had an incredible weekend at Petra! So grateful we could bring our dog and relax on the beautiful property! The chalets are extremely clean and comfortable, we bought so many goodies from the olive shop and went for some lovely walks around the property. Would of loved a standing fan to sleep with rather than ceiling or floor fan but I’m not complaining! We will definitely be back very soon.
