Description
Carnarvon’s central waterway, known as the
Fascine, was named after an 1800s building
technique used to construct the embankment
on the south arm of the Gascoyne River. Fascine
means “water held back by a pile of sticks.” In
1896 fl ood waters caused severe damage to Olivia
Terrace and a tender was called to build a fl ood
protection system. Stately palms line the water
way, making it a lovely spot for a picnic or a stroll.
The sunset views are magnifi cent and you may
even see a dolphin.

The fascine is the most aesthethically pleasing location in Carnarvon. It is a pleasnat enough walk along it and it is close to the town centre.Nice
Very nice, well maintained and lovely area centrally located in Carnarvon. Lots of benches and bbq. Walk across the wooden jetty and continue further for a nice walk or run.Lovely landscaped and grassed area.
Lovely landscaped walking and picnic area with seating. Take the dog, a picnic and your camera. Especially at sunset
