Riverdale is the original name of the property granted to the Powell family in 1898. It was part of a larger property surveyed originally in 1830. Expect simple modern day comfort with some age old imperfections.
Riverdale 1898 is situated on Riverdale Farm which has beef cattle, small pinot vineyard and sustainable flower growing and designing business attached.
Time spent at Riverdale 1898 is about embracing the season and all it has to offer, enjoying the peace and quiet whilst celebrating the natural environment. The Luke Pen Walk begins at the gate of the property (East Bank Rd entry) and meanders along the Kalgan River for a distance of 7.4 km to the Upper Kalgan Bridge. A perfect spot for wildflowers and birds.
Guests will have the cottage and its fenced garden for their use during their stay. Parking outside fence.
We have taken time to gather and curate the elements in the cottage that reflect the art of living simply. It is an ideal location to cultivate creativity.
A selection of books on local and natural history, short stories by local authors and a collection of floral design books and novels are available to read and enjoy in a beautiful light filled north facing sunroom. This features a comfortable sofa and chairs on one side with a small table and chairs on the other.
There are 2 bedrooms, sleeping up to 4 guests. One Queen size bed and 2 King single beds.
There is a cosy lounge room complete with comfy sofa and occasional chair with a slow combustion fire for those cooler days and a television and DVD player.
A separate dining area has views of the cottage garden.
The kitchen is equipped with a choice of stove top or plunger coffee. Stove, oven and dishwasher.
Small laundry corner equipped with washer/dryer and just outside the garden is a Hill's Hoist perfect for drying your clothes or beach towels.
Bathroom has a shower and there is a separate toilet.
Please note there is no WIFI.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the cottage Riverdale 1898 and the fenced area surrounding it during their stay. Plenty of space to park outside the timber fence.

Riverdale 1898 is at Riverdale Farm. Riverdale Farm is a beef cattle farm and gates must be left as they are found.

Cancellation Policy
We understand plans can change, so here are our conditions and policies
Deposit: A minimum deposit of 30% of the value of the booking is required at the time of making the booking unless the booking is made within 14 days of arrival whereupon payment in full is required
Cancellation Conditions: If cancellation occurs within 14 days of arrival there will be an automatic cancellation charge equivalent to the cost of one nights accommodation unless the accommodation is rebooked. If cancellation occurs within 7 days of arrival there will be an automatic non-refundable cancellation charge equivalent to one nights accommodation or 50% of the entire booking which ever is greater. In addition there will be a $65 Albany Visitor Centre cancellation fee.

Spectacular property
Riverdale 1898 is a beaufitul cottage on a spectacular property, the best place to unwind and forget about our busy day to day lives. A short drive in to Albany for restaurants and supplies but far enough away to have optimal peace and quiet. I cant wait to go back again.charming and clean
We came here for our anniversary and fell in love with the place! It’s cozy, charming and clean. We were pleasantly greeted with freshly baked bread, fruits, farm eggs and milk. Firewood and kindling were all chopped and ready to go too. When we first arrived, Jim came down to say hi and check if we needed help with anything. Location is also pretty good. We drove via an internal shortcut across the field and reached Luke Pen Walk where we went for a good hike and did some fishing! A bit further to Albany (about 20 mins) but we enjoyed the remoteness and the views from the fields are gorgeous at sunrises and sunsets.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to come back again.
