Overview
The Department of Parks and Wildlife protects and conserves the State’s natural environment on behalf of the people of Western Australia. Its key responsibilities include conserving biodiversity and managing the State’s national parks, marine parks and other reserves, which cover a total area of more than 27 million hectares.
The parks in the West Kimberley consist of: Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park, Yawuru Nagulagun / Roebuck Bay Marine Park, Yawuru Conservation Estate,Danggu Geikie Gorge,Wunaamin Conservation Park, Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge) National Park, Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek), Rowley Shoals Marine Park, Lalang-garram / Camden Sound Marine Park, Lalang-garram / Horizontal Falls Marine Park and North Lalang-garram Marine Park.
