Goldfields War Museum
The Goldfields War Museum was established in 1989 to showcase the Goldfields community contribution to conflicts in which Australia has been involved, and was realised through the vision, drive and dedication of local resident Ross Rogers and his family. In April 2010, the museum was devastated by a 5.0 magnitude earth...quake, the highest ever recorded in the area. The Goldfields War Museum relocated to the Kalgoorlie Town Hall with a long term commitment from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to redevelop the museum and return it to Boulder. On 7 January 2019, the museum was reopened in the Boulder Town Hall. Walk through the exhibition and discover the significant involvement residents of the town made during the Boer War, World Wars I and II, through to the 21st Century. Examine photographs, documents and original artefacts to gain an in-depth understanding of the wars and how it impacted on those enlisted and on the home-front.Guided tours available every Tuesday and Thursday at 1.30pm, costs Adults $10, Concessions $8 and children under 16 years of age $4. Most interesting and informative tour
From spectacular views at the top of the mine head to the informative history and glittering gold ingots in the vaults, this was a most interesting and informative tour.An excellent starting point if you are spending a few days in Kalgoorlie and want to find out about how mining began and has developed into the 21st century.
Well worth it!
For a $5 donation, well worth it. A lot of history. Make sure you watch (or buy it for $20) the Western Australia DVD. Brilliant. Staff are very friendly and will answer your questions. Great views. Enjoy.Brain Expanded!
So much info about the history of this fascinating area. Lovely staff as well. The exhibits are well put together with something for everyone. The ride up to the platform was a bonus and gives amazing views over the town. Great place to visit.
