Events To Attend Western Australia

Hosted at the iconic Perth Arena, this tournament has a unique format with teams of one male and one female player representing eight nations competing in a round-robin format in mixed doubles and male/female singles. The intimate setting will let you see all the action up close and attracts star players from around the world.
Western Australia's premier horse racing event which carries prize money of over AU$350 000. Held at Royal Ascot Raceway, regarded as Australia's toughest test for thoroughbreds, run over the same distance as the Melbourne Cup. The highlight of the Perth Social Calendar.
Australia Day Fireworks
Uniting over 350 000 of Perth's citizens and visitors in a celebration of the Australian Culture as we observe this firework spectacular. Synchronised to Australian and popular music, fireworks are launched from the Narrows Bridge, Swan River and Perth's tallest skyscrapers.
Perth International Arts Festival
Australia's oldest and largest multi-arts festival and the only statewide multi-arts festival in Australia. The Perth International Arts Festival has an enviable world reputation in the arts for its innovative development, presentation of new works and provision of quality arts.
The 20 kilometre swim is held from Perth's Cottesloe Beach to Thompson Bay, Rottnest Island. Each year individuals and teams endure one of the longest open water swim events in the world. Only swimming enthusiasts are advised to take up this endurance challenge.
Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest
Enjoyed by more than 140,000 locals and visitors each year, this exciting weekend festival features a plethora of fun and activities including live cooking displays with contestants from Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, an En Plein Air Art and Children’s Dress Up competition, a jam-packed entertainment line-up on the main and children’s stages. There will be an abundance of great food including many crab-inspired dishes and endless displays and demonstrations.
Margaret River Masters
A six-star World qualifying event featuring the world's best and well known surfers including Sunny Garcia with over $106 000 in prize money. Held annually at Margaret River since 1985, renowned for the large waves that surfers must compete on, usually over 15 feet high.
West Coast Blues N Roots
A jam-packed day of musical goodness held in the heart of Fremantle. There is no event that better encapsulates the great West Australian lifestyle quite like the West Coast Blues ’n’ Roots Festival. A laid back atmosphere with some of the classic artists which has seen the likes of Bob Dylan, Grace Jones, Santana, Robert Plant, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Paul Simon, Ben Harper, Crowded House and so many more.
Recognised as Australia's greatest and longest white water classic, the event sees over 600 competitors complete a huge 135km obstacle course along the Avon River from Northam to Perth. The course is run along almost the entirity of the Avon River at 134 kilometres long.
Dirk Hartog Voyage of Discovery: Shark Bay 1616 Festival
2016 will mark 400 years since Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog made landfall on an Island off the coast of Western Australia, known now as Dirk Hartog Island. The explorer left a pewter plate as a mark of his discovery, which is the earliest known evidence left of a European in Australia. To commemorate this significant anniversary, the Shire of Shark Bay together with the State Government of Western Australia present the Dirk Hartog Voyage Of Discovery: Shark Bay 1616 Festival. In October 2016, Shark Bay will play host to a week of unique cultural celebrations that will take place in honour of this anniversary including arts, food and historical events.
Kings Park Wildflower Festival
Australia's largest and most varied flower festival, the event has won numerous international awards for outstanding quality. One of the best ways to discover Australia's natural flora, hosted in the largest central city park in the world - Kings Park, Perth's Botanical Gardens.
Perth Royal Show
Perth's most anticipated and biggest festival, showcasing Western Australia's leading horticultural, agricultural, rural, industrial, commercial and mineral resourses. The event attracts 400 000 people each year to sample wines, exhibits, sideshow alley and the famous showbags.
October / November
Every Year the streets of Fremantle brim over with colour, laughter, music and celebration at the City’s premier three day Community Festival. The world’s best street and cabaret performers will perform a variety of world class outstanding shows captivating their audiences. There are more than 100 performances and it’s all free! This is a community event where everyone comes out to celebrate in this fun-loving soulful city! The music is so catchy you can't help but sing, clap or dance to the different beats. The Fremantle Festival Parade is always a joy, watch the colourful floats, listen to the music, join in with the street dancing.
Held through the main streets of Perth, the Christmas Pageant is the largest and most popular in Australia attracting over 300 000 Perth parents and their children to the city, viewing the collection of dazzling light covered floats, street performers, marching bands and clowns.
Concerts At Sandalford Estate
Sandalford Wines Estate in Perth's Swan Valley hosts a number of concerts all year round, set in the beautiful surrounds of the Winery. International acts that have played at Sandalford Wines include Cliff Richard, Cold Chisel, Duran Duran, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Michael Buble, Sting, Crowded House, Simply Red and many more.
